Earthquake! Tidal Wave! Inferno! ‘Disaster! The Musical’ Prepared to Knock Greensboro Off Its Feet

Get ready to groove, panic, and laugh until it hurts. Triad Pride Acting Company is thrilled to present Broadway’s hilarious musical comedy hit, Disaster!, running from August 21st through August 30th, 2026, at the Congregational United Church of Christ.
Conceived by Emmy Award winner Seth Rudetsky and written by Rudetsky and Jack Plotnick, Disaster! is a sharp, affectionate parody of 1970s disaster films. Set on a floating casino and discotheque during its grand opening night, the show brings together a colorful cast of characters—from a faded disco diva and a disaster expert to a pair of star-crossed lovers and a shady casino owner. As the night unfolds, the ship is struck by every conceivable natural and man-made catastrophe, from earthquakes and tidal waves to infernos and killer rats.
What keeps the ship afloat is a non-stop soundtrack of the 1970s' greatest hits, including "Knock on Wood," "Hooked on a Feeling," "Sky High," "I Am Woman," and "Hot Stuff."
"We are incredibly excited to bring this high-octane comedy to the Triad," says Stephen Hale, Artistic Director. "We’re pairing spectacular vocal performances with physical comedy that is just pure, unadulterated fun. Audiences are going to recognize every single song, but they've never seen them used like this before."
