Maker’s Space: An Experiment in Words and Movement
A playful exploration of the creative process and personal history through words and movement. How can poetry connect to dance? How can dance turn into a collaborative poem? Using existing poems and dances as a starting point, we will experiment with how we can re-use and recycle creative material to create new artistic expressions. No prior dance or poetry experience necessary, just a willingness to explore and create together! Comfortable clothes you can move in are recommended. Open to Adults 18+
This workshop is part of Dance Project's ongoing Maker's Space workshop. Generally, our Maker's Space program is a creative playground for movers who want to explore choreography, experiment with new ideas, and grow as artists. Each 2-class session is led by a rotating artist who will guide students through structured warm-up, improvisation, and choreographic tools from their own unique practice to spark creativity. Typically open to intermediate/advanced dancers (18+) and local professionals, the February workshops are open to all levels. For more information, visit: https://danceproject.org/special-classes/
