Bolling Lite
As we began our journey.
Brian and Stephanie will perform the entire Billboard Chart Topping "Suite for Flute and Jazz Piano" by Claude Bolling - in order. Just the 2 of them.
Sprinkling the evening with Romantic Classics, Rock Music that has embraced Woodwinds, and more exciting Bolling tunes that Steph and Brian LOVE to play and share.
Claude Bolling's music is best when more people jump on board, no doubt. Bolling was a tremendous solo artist, but he was also a singularly fantastic collaborator. More than anything, Bolling loved Big Bands. The more horns and voices, the better. The Claude Bolling Big Band is still active in France in 2025. But - remember - he started his uniquely creative and stunning "Crossover" composition and performing era with one single collaborator, Jean-Pierre Rampal. It was Rampal who encouraged Bolling to create a Suite of music for Flute and Jazz Trio.
This is what we are doing. For more than a year, Brian Blauch and Stephanie Lindley met weekly, rehearsing the challenging Claude Bolling music. Until they were ready to invite the beautiful Gavin Douglas to join on guitar.
We are sharing with you our friendship and our loving collaboration.
This evening promises to be unique and special and at tiimes - quite surprising - even to those folks who have attended every one of our Bolling Shows.
Both Brian and Stephanie are THEATRE musicians. Both been performed music for theatre productions that have demanded them to understand a vast array of genres and styles. This is one reason why Brian plays so many instruments. His broad instrumental skills have served him well on Broadway tours. Stephanie has served as Musical Director/Conductor/Pianist for hundreds of theatre productions, including rock musicals ("Rent", "Hands on a Hardbody", "Passing Strange") and African American classics such as "Dreamgirls", "Ain't Misbehavin'", "The Wiz", and "Five Guys Named Moe". Her love of traditional jazz from the 1930's era stems from her love of the music from those theatre pieces honoring the Harlem Renaissance.
Claude Bolling appeals to both Brian and Stephanie because of their mutual love of broad and bold musical genres.
Come spend this very special evening with us. We are excited to prepare and share this very special evening with you!
