CVA Trash Bash w/ Reconsidered Goods

Fri, Aug 2, 2024

You are invited to The Gallery at the Center for Visual Artists in partnership with Reconsidered Goods, for our “Trash Bash 2024”. This is a group sculpture competition using an array of reused materials on First Friday, August 2, 2024. As always, this is a FREE ADMISSION event, and visitors are welcome to watch the competition, enjoy refreshments, music and cheer on the teams.

Teams of artists and makers will compete to build an installation sculpture working with reused materials from Reconsidered Goods. 5 teams will be randomly selected to work on their collaborative site-specific installation under a time constraint (only 75 minutes), while spectators cheer them on. Each team will be assigned to a specific space in the gallery and receive a list of rules and a “trash kit” to work from – a panel of judges will select winners, each team receiving a one-of-a-kind Reconsidered Goods Reuse Trophy.

Trash Bash is a signature program of Reconsidered Goods, offered in partnership with organizations and businesses to promote environmental sustainability and encourage creative expression. The goal is to foster ingenuity, creativity, and invention, reconsidering how we think about discarded materials, art making, and creative potential.

Parents, we will have a mobile make-n-take lab for kids during the competition, so come in and take a break from the heat.

The Center for Visual Artists is located at 200 N Davie St in the Cultural Arts Building on the second floor. We are accessible from the Church Street Parking Deck or street parking.
