Greensboro Ballet presents: The Nutcracker

Since its early beginning as a Nutcracker Fashion Show fundraiser held in 1980 in the basement of a church, to a full-length classical ballet production performed over two weekends in December at the historic Carolina Theatre each year, Greensboro Ballet's The Nutcracker has evolved over the past 40+ years into a holiday staple in the Greater Greensboro and Triad community. Greensboro Ballet's The Nutcracker has featured thousands of students and dancers from the community for a magical holiday classic that has enchanted over 100,000 audience members since that humble starting event, and the tradition continues this December. From the moment you walk into a festively decorated Carolina Theatre, you are enveloped in the spirit of an enchanting tradition that millions of others experience across the globe each holiday season. You're soon transported back in time to the home of young Clara celebrating the season with family and friends. After she receives a Nutcracker doll as a present from her Uncle Drosselmeyer, Clara will take you on a dreamy adventure with her through a battle between life-size mice and toy soldiers, then a sparkling land of swirling snowflakes, and finally, to an enchanting Land of the Dolls. The Sugar Plum Fairy and friends will entertain Clara and her Nutcracker Prince as the sumptuous Tchaikovsky score fills your ears with nostalgia and wonder
