Tarwater Album Release at the Flat Iron (Colin Cutler Band, Rebekah Todd, Dashawn and Wendy Hickman)
Colin Cutler's upcoming album *Tarwater* (out Nov 3rd) is a musical exploration of Flannery O'Connor's short stories that runs across the tent of Americana--from banjo-driven oldtime to acoustic folk and country to honky-tonkin' electric blues and roots rock. He has played for the NC Folk Festival, Merlefest, Martha Bassett Show, and several City of Greensboro events, won the Susquehanna Folk Festival Emerging Artists Contest, and received a grant from ArtsGreensboro (now ACGG) as he was developing Tarwater. He also received a National Endowment of the Humanities fellowship to deepen his study of O'Connor at Georgia College and will be playing at Shakori Hills Grassroots Festival this fall. He will be releasing the vinyl version of Tarwater on 3 Dec at Greensboro's home for live music, The Flat Iron, in a show opened by Rebekah Todd (solo) and Dashawn and Wendy Hickman (with band)--these artists, powerhouses in their own right, also contributed to the making of *Tarwater*. Colin Cutler will close out the evening with his band, Hot Pepper Jam.
