Songwriters@Scup #51, w/Kirby Heard, Cindy Taplin, & ava rose

We've got a fantastic September show for you, with S@S veterans Kirby Heard and Cindy Taplin, and newcomer ava rose.
Kirby Heard has become known for songs that take listeners on journeys through yesteryear and memories of home. Introspective, inquisitive, and witty, these songs shine with her authentic voice and perspective and recall down-home grass-roots stories that new generations need to hear and our generation needs to remember. Kirby’s music is infused with insight, love, loss, and new promise, some of which she shares on 2 CDs, Mama’s Biscuits & Ripples in the Wake.
Cindy Taplin grew up in Kernersville and Walkertown surrounded by tobacco farmers and country music. In her late 40s she picked up the banjo that her son gave her for Christmas. It wasn’t long before the song ideas started coming. She bought a guitar and began to write about life from the perspective of a woman.
Playing a couple of original songs at the Bluebird Cafe in Nashville was a dream come true for a shy country girl who was always sure she had the music in her, but didn’t think she had the nerve to share it.
ava rose is a Midwest-raised singer/songwriter now based in North Carolina. More than anything, ava wants to deliver the message of embracing the rainy days, because everything has a way of working itself out in the end.
