an·am·ne·sis [anəmˈnēsəs]

noun: the remembering of things from a supposed previous existence

an·am·ne·sis is an exploration of multimedia collage using found and repurposed materials, specifically chosen for their age. We believe this gives the work a dated and surrealistic feel. We also believe that the art of collage does not have to exist solely on paper, but lends itself to other forms of layering, including sound and video projection. The body of these works encapsulates years of friendship and transcendental contemplation that has heavily informed each other's processes. The attempt of this collection is to take something that already exists, and twist and morph it into something new. We are encouraging the viewer to look at these once familiar rearranged images in a new light, with a new frame of mind.

More About the Artists

Matt Goshow

I am a local musician and visual artist, who moved to Greensboro from Philadelphia in 2013. Although I am well versed in graphic design and digital collage, my main process for art creation is analog. I primarily work with dated and vintage imagery to create physical collages that are meant to simulate a psychedelic experience. My intention is to create images that are a metaphor for a multidimensional collapsed space. I am inviting the viewer to find metaphysical depth in an otherwise two-dimensional format.

Mike Bannerman

I received my Bachelor of Fine Arts, with a concentration in drawing and printmaking, from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro in 2014. I currently reside in Greensboro where I continue to work on a wide variety of visual and music projects, often collaborating with other artists within the community. My most recent works rely heavily on the use of juxtaposition of a flat backdrop with relief elements that seem to morph and emerge from the worlds portrayed.
